Struga Hosts Fifth Edition of the International School 'Curating in Context'

Struga was once again a meeting point for artists, curators and theorists as the fifth edition of the international school "Curating in Context", subtitled "Imagining New Worlds", took place in the city at the end of August and beginning of September 2026.

Through a five-day programme of lectures, intensive workshops and collaborative practical work, participants explored contemporary artistic practice through listening, movement, the creation of micro-utopias and the inclusion of non-human perspectives in art.

The programme's public highlight was an open lecture by renowned curator and theorist Jelena Vesić, held on 3 September at Europe House in Struga and open to both professional audiences and the wider community.

The school is supported by a range of international partners, including the EU's "Democracy in Action" project under Horizon Europe, Switzerland's "Culture for Development" programme, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the University of the Arts Braunschweig and Creative Europe, and aims to connect Macedonia's independent cultural scene with the wider international art world.

The fifth edition of the international school "Curating in Context 5 – Imagining New Worlds" brought lectures and workshops to Struga, with an open public lecture held on 3 September at Europe House.
